THE RHINE RIVER

Disputed Waters is a multi media project where journalists, photographers and videographers explore stories about transboundary rivers where water may become a source of conflict due to climate change and an increasing world population.

The Rhine is a major transport link in Europe. The river has seen its share of water conflicts in the past, some minor ones still continuing until today. But mostly the Rhine can be seen as an example of how several countries have been able to work together to manage this important waterway and deal with floodings, water pollution, and the comeback of fish, like the salmon.
