DISPUTED WATERS: THE COLORADO RIVER
Disputed Waters is a multi media project where journalists, photographers and videographers explore stories about transboundary rivers where water may become a source of conflict due to climate change and an increasing world population.
Please visit our project website at www.disputedwaters.com
Colorado River water goes to inefficient agricultural irrigation, watering golf courses and filling swimming pools and inner city lakes. At the same time natural areas like the Salton Sea and the Colorado delta in Mexico have dried up without any consideration for nature and the local populations.
Some of the pictures in this series are made by colleague (and good friend) Ronald de Hommel, some of them by me.
With the aerial pictures from the Colorado River series Ronald and I won a second price at the Zilveren Camera photojournalism contest.
